I walked past this and was like WTH, where did it go?
Someone at Hackney Council probably thought it was racist.
Probably because if it gets considered a thing we must preserve, how do you do that with a function bridge that needs physical maintenance, cleaning, inspection etc
What a ridiculous world we live in, whereby we must preserve graffiti because the artist is famous and wants to smash the capitalist system by becoming a multi millionaire capitalist themselves.
It would be interesting if a Graffiti artist emerged who deliberately used paint that would naturally wash away with rain over time, or came back a few days later and repainted (in the decorating sense, rather than art sense) the wall – so deliberately ensuring their art was temporary (and maybe even sprucing up the appearance of the whole wall in he process) and would be preserved only in the form of photographs of its brief existence.
