This is really exciting, a mixed-use development right on the tram line. Here’s hoping Airbnbs are blocked completely, given the proximity to the airport.
Also, it should be called Westoun.
Thats excellent news – I’ve been thinking recently that the A8 could do with a shit ton more traffic on it.
Regardless of sharky comments people make about this, building new towns again is a good thing.
It sounds good, and I’m glad they’re actually planning for commercial space as well instead of plonking a load of semi detached houses in the middle of a field like they’re doing out by Musselburgh
Glad Edinburgh’s getting some high density development, but damn that really is gonna be right next to the airport huh.
Good idea. Shame it’s going to look like every other hideous new development.
Looks like every other “exciting development” in the UK. Tiny homes inside bland, cheaply-clad, monotonous blocks of flats – each with its own, “uniquely shaped” roof to give the impression of architectural merit where none exists.
And all of it built to such a low quality that it’ll have to be torn down and rebuilt in 50 years’ time.
“Proposals for West Town also include space for a primary school”
Why isn’t it a requirement of planning that funding for or building a primary school is included, rather than just space for one?
