Hi everyone,
I’m currently on a student visa in Germany, and my temporary residence permit has expired. I’ve already applied for an appointment to renew it and received a contact form as confirmation (image attached). The form mentions that my residence title is considered valid until the scheduled date of the appointment, and I can continue to work or study.
I applied for a mini job with a post company, completed a trial, and everything seemed fine. However, they now say that the confirmation document I received isn’t enough, and I need a proper letter or proof that I will receive only after the appointment that states my residence permit will be renewed.
Is this true? Does the contact form not suffice for starting a job? Has anyone faced a similar situation, and how did you resolve it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance.

As the screenshot already says: Legally, applying for the new residence permit automatically makes the existing one valid until your application has been processed.
There are no statements required by the foreigners office that your residence permit will definitely be granted for this to be the case.
See section 81 of the law:

If your current residence permit doesn’t allow employment then you must wait for the decision/new residence permit to arrive.
What you need is a fiktionsbescheinigung. Go to your Ausländerbehorde and ask for it.
