  1. It’s interesting to see which countries don’t have any legislative bans on it! I’m danish, and I’m surprised we don’t.

That said though, we’re super liberal and and very progressive in the recognition of gay rights, especially as we were the first country in the world to legally recognise same sex partnerships.

On that basis, I don’t think there’s a legally enforced ban because there’s never been any impetus or real calls to legislate and codify one, not to mention I sure as hell have never ever heard of conversion therapy being carried out here.

  2. I was encouraged to make this map after realizing most people don’t realize the extent to which conversion therapy is still legal across Europe. witnessing the reaction to proposals from the UK Parliament regarding the outlawing of this practice I noted many assumed gay conversion therapy had long been illegal. After googling I realized there was no up-to-date information readily available – so I decided to make this.

*It’s very possible there are some discrepancies, please inform me and I will update*

  3. I’m very surprised (in a positive way) about Albania!

I have kinda expected countries were the churches are still strong to be in the red, but I was rather shocked about most of the North as well as Belgium not having a law against it.

  4. Not surprised about Sweden’s stance Conversion Therapy is never really talked about much, either about it existing or a ban for it.

And I am not entirely sure if there is legal grounds to ban it either as long as it isn’t forced or underage people involved.

  5. Why is the dictatorial authoritarian position marked as green? Governments have absolutely no legitimate reason to stop consenting adults doing what they want with their own life.

  6. Good for coutries with no ban ! They are trying to push the alphabet agenda without allowing anyone to fight back only allowing ” doctors ” and ” therpaists/psychologists ” who are using kids for their own leftists church experiments.

Didn’t believe that one day we will end up with lunatic leftist cult instead of the church but by the everytime you remove a cult a new opposite cult gets into power that advocates for CRAZY ideas. I guess this is the condition of human beings ! Going from one stupid idea to another.

  7. How many of the red (or otherwise) countries’ citizens actually have access to / are aware of conversion therapy? Seems like another one of those cultural fixations imported from another continent.

Also while we’re at it, why aren’t diets/exercise banned? It’s practically perpetuating fat genocide. /s

  8. Not exactly correct, Italy proposed ban in 2016 and still discussed, plus even if not a legal ban, the psychiatrist and psychologist association forbid their associates to practice those therapy. If they do they can be suspend and/or banned from profession.

Plus the general use of some of the worst therapy like elettroshock or similar is banned by general law and considered torture.
