People who name things “Whatever McWhateverFace” are the smirky twats who think they’re being funny, and in some way original.
Boaty McBoatface was funny because it was the first widespread use of a name, which was itself supposed to be frankly, a bit shit. Subsequently, it’s become the lower common denominator chosen by only the most dim-witted of people who think it is the zenith of humorous utterances.
Explaining the etymology of such a generic street name is like a textbook example of padding.
