Two examples in the picture: non-reusable grinder and roll on deo.

Do they go to the glass container and the plastic will simply melt during the process?

That’s all I wanted to ask but I have to take a few more seconds of your time and have you read a useless paragraph so my post reaches the minimum number of 200 characters to be accepted on this sub. I hope it was not that boring, though. I am probably over 200 characters now so I will stop.

  1. I spend an unhealthy amount of time ripping stuff like this apart, so ill gladly post here to know what their answers are.

  2. I dont think you can throw it into the glass bin like that. i usually try to pry away the plastic part with a screw driver. When i cant get it off i throw it in the normal trash

  3. Garbage. They like a bit of glass at the waste disposal plant anyway.

  4. I always assumed it’ll be shredded and washed anyways and that’ll get rid of leftovers inside and also crap like the plastic or the paper.

  5. You can remove the plastic part, take a knife (the one you use to eat, not the one to cook). And press in the intersection between the glass and the plastic and just force it out. It work, or at least it work for the nivea deodorant.

If there isn’t any deo left you can also take them appart with the your hand, just make sure that there isn’t any deodorant left on it, or you hand will slip. If there still is some use some toilette paper to have a better grip. Pull with à slight angle

  6. Throw it into the glass. The impurities like labels have to be removed anyway (burned/melted away).

  7. If you leave the deo to dry a bit you can remove it with your hand. The pepper one should just unscrew i think

  8. Just leave it as it is. The plastic will burn in the melting process

  9. Trash – recycling is a plot to make the individual responsible for the total which is a corporate tactic to avoid responsibility themselves. The world will not be saved by you.

  10. Just throw it in the glass container as it is.

It’ll get shredded and the plastic and metal and any non-glass parts will get sorted out. That’s also why it’s better to NOT wash the glass beforehand and also to keep the metal cap on (not on your glasses, but like those pesto glasses or beer bottles or such).

  11. I assume, they will sort it beforehand too. It is often labelled on the product (if bought in switerland), where it has to be thrown away. For stuff like spices, it is just labeled as glass, so I assume, you can just put it into the glass recicling and they will take care of it.

  12. To combine it with a little science experiment, you can put the deo thing in a cup with boiling hot water or just pour some over it (the glass part, not the plastic!) and the plastic thing will be much easier to remove or even pops out by itself due to the expansion of air inside. I’m not joking I always do it that way 🙂

  13. glass is one of the easier things to recycle. it jsut get pulverized and all impurities like plastic and paper get sorted out. dont worry about small parts of plastic or labels

  14. You will probably injure yourself trying to cut the plastic out. Just put it in the glass container. Asked my local recycling center and they confirmed.

  15. Funny that no one mentioned this but you can actually easily remove the plastic ball from the deodorant with a butter knife. Also why not refill the pepper container with pepper corns and use it again if that’s possible, if not, I think there should be a way to get that thing off the top with a kinfe. Last resort would be to put in a solid plastic bag, throw it on the floor so the glass breaks and the plastic part comes off.

  16. I think you can just throw it in the class container. Usually everything gets broken up, glass sinks faster than plastic. Same for the labels. But it really depends on the specific plant.
