The cost of 1g of protein for selected staple protein sources in the UK.
I used Tesco.com and selected the cheapest available product in each of these categories. I calculated using the cost/kg and the amount of protein per 100g in the products 'nutritional info' section.
Clarification:
– Lentils and Chickpeas (dried)
– Kidney beans (canned)

If you’re going for protein intake, protein/kcal per 100g is also important. Oats have a lot of protein for the price, but you would have to eat 3700kcal of oats to cover 135g of protein intake.
The fact that chicken is cheaper than kidney beans is disturbing
‘Dairy milk’ confused me for a second, but I guess you mean actual milk rather than the chocolate brand.
Where do whey protein powder and protein bars compare?
