What are these black lines on the German motorway for? The white line is studded to make noise, but the black ones confused me.

  1. Never saw those on an Autobahn and I’ve been driving those for almost 30 years now, where is that?

  2. Its to wake up sleeping drivers, your car/truck will vibrate and make sounds.

  3. Its makes the steering wheel shake so that you will awake when you fell asleep

  4. The black ones also make nois, but louder. It’s for drivers who fall asleep at the wheel and sverve ti the right.

  5. The black dotted line next to the white line makes even more noise and should alert drivers who fell asleep.

  6. Haha try it. We had in our region a test area for this and its awesome.

  7. It’s not even a painted line. It’s a series of depressions (like deliberate small pot holes) in the surface. That’s why on the pic you see water in the individual depressions.

  8. Always thought that they were implemented in the Seitenstreifen only so this one is new, it’s a thing to make your car vibrate if you touch these markings in order to warn you from getting off the road.

  9. These things saved my life once , was driving for more then 10 hours with my father as a passenger sleeping next to me , woke up to the vibrations caused by the markings

  10. Its called Leitpfosten.
The silver areas reflect the car lights.
So the outer line of the roads are better visible.
