The World Blind Cricket Council (WBCC) will give prominence to creating a suitable environment to promote cricket for the visually impaired, according to Rajanish Henry, the newly-elected Secretary General of the council.

Activities to promote visually impaired cricket at the international level will be conducted. The WBCC has set its sights on expanding the global reach of the sport, with a focus on developing men’s and women’s teams in the United States and the United Arab Emirates, Mr. Henry said at a felicitation event organised by the Cricket Association for the Blind in Kerala (CABI) in Kochi on Saturday (December 7).

To achieve the goal, WBCC will leverage the expertise and resources of dominant blind cricket nations, such as India, to provide technical support, training, and guidance to emerging teams, he was quoted as saying in a release. Chandrasekhar K.N., who was elected as WBCC finance director, was honoured at the function.

Scheduled for November 2025, the first Women’s T20 World Cup for the Blind will be organised by CABI in partnership with Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled, employing a neutral or hybrid venue model, according to the release.
