  1. i realized today that the fall of Assad might have an impact on the Russian ammo supplies, since Syria apparently exported tens of thousands of shell casings to Russia since the beginning of the war

also, the Syrian rebels will be in need of cash to rebuild the country, and selling old Russian equipment through third parties back to Ukraine might be a way to get cash

  2. Aren’t they just a tad worried about the incoming syrian verison of the taliban.

  3. This is a difficult one.

On the one hand it’s great news that putin is possibly going to lose a major foreign outpost; an important foreign port that still accepts his ships.

On the other hand the people who are in line to take power in Syria if these rebel attacks succeed are not our friends. They are not the friends of anyone who doesn’t agree with their Islamist extremism principles. You wouldn’t want to be a woman under their rule.

  4. # Assad’s military forces flee to Iraq and surrender to Iraqi military. They don’t want to sacrifice their lives for Assad like the Russians sacrifice their lives for Putin.

*The remaining Assad forces and security branches in the city of Albukamal withdrew towards the Iraqi border and surrendered themselves to the Iraqi army*
