Hello, im new in finland and im kindly looking if anyone could pls help:

  1. Identify this light socket. (2 pics included)

  2. what kind of light products i can in stall w this.

  3. How to install the light products for this.

  4. Stupid question but do i need to turn fuse box off first b4 install for this light socket?

  2. If you don’t know this basic thing, find a professional or a friend who knows these stuff…

  3. This is called “sokeripala” (sugar cube). It has a brown “live” wire and a blue “neutral” wire. You can loosen the screw on the opposite side of each wire and connect the lamp’s same coloured wire then retighten the screw.

    No need to flip off the fuse box – it’s enough to flip off the light switch.

  4. 1. Yes it is a light socket.

    2-4 if you don’t know what you are doing ask a professional.

  5. 1. This is a piece of terminal block, a generic way to connect wires to other wires
    2. Basically any.
    3. If you’re unsure, get someone who knows a bit more about electricity to do it for you. Better safe than sorry.
    4. Yes. You should never interact with this kind of connector without being 100% sure it’s not live. Preferably using a tester. PLEASE DO NOT LISTEN TO PEOPLE WHO SAY TOGGLING THE LIGHT SWITCH IS ENOUGH.

  7. Are the sockets in the room grounded? If they are not you can install anything. If they are not, it is better to have a double insulated light (marked with a double square) as there is no ground. Alternatively call an electrician.
