Edit: I forgot to add, that a no fly zone would be for everyone, Russia and Ukraine. That would take out Ukraine’s ability to use planes and drones, which they are actually doing really well with. It would only leave ground forces where Ukraine is heavily outnumbered. It would remove the one equaliser that Ukraine has.
Americans also don’t want to get involved in a foreign war that will be with an *actual* organised, serious military. That’s not even considering nuclear potential. Bad as Russia has performed it’s still ruining Ukraine and killing hundreds of people so…
Um, no. As bad as the Ukrainian situation is there is no way we should put US military assets into a situation where there is an extreme likelihood of a confrontation with Russian military.
For a NATO member, yes absolutely send in our full might, but we are right now closer to WW3 than we have been in decades and we must tread carefully.
There are plenty of other things we can do to help Ukraine. We here in the US have plenty of oil from domestic sources that we could ramp up supply from very rapidly so I think an oil ban would be extremely doable.

Locking up Russian oil means that oil prices will soar even higher, since oil is a global commodity. Oil prices are rising now, but they are no where near their peak. Taking Russian oil off the market will force them even higher. Are Americans willing to drive less, pay more to fly, and pay higher delivery prices for products? I don’t think so.

Its important to remember that no two military nuclear powers have ever fired a shot at each other and for good reason. It has always been through proxy wars. NATO is a defensive alliance and will not fire the first shot unless its in defense. A no fly zone means they are offensive and thats just not going to happen.
Sadly, how I think this ends is Russia will continue to invade nonNATO countries then burry itself behind its nuclear umbrella for another 20 years until putin dies and rots in hell. The wonderful Chinese gov will I am sure help keep them afloat too
I don’t know why Biden is reluctant to embargo Russian oil. It would cause gasoline prices to go up, but at least he would have an excuse. Right now, they are high only because of his mismanagement of the economy, draconian and unscientific anti-covid measures, and crackdown on the domestic oil industry.
I think once his handlers figure this out, he will do it. I would bet it will be in the next 2-3 days.
Because they probably don’t even understand what it means, just ask them if they want to declare war on Russia and the number will probably go down a lot.

These same polls said Hillary Clinton was going to win in a landslide in 2016. Asking a 500 people their opinion and then acting like you know the opinion of 300 million people seems so flawed to me for so many reasons.
Where did they get these numbers from? I’d like to see the methodology. Plus Blinken literally just announced that doing exactly that will lead to ww3.
