And Assad deserves to be punished for all his atrocities.
Interesting, want to see what Putin has to say about it
It’s late at night in Syria right now. I think the rebels will halt until sunrise. If Assad can’t win a decisive battle in the morning, he’s finished.

It’s crazy how much Russia and Iran have been weakened by Ukraine and Israel… Does not look like they are putting up a fight at all.
Will the Syrian Civil War finally be over now?
If Assad is taken out it’s just going to lead to a new phase in the Civil War as the HTS Islamic hardliners take on the Free Syrian Army.
Democratic Syria, with HTS, the Kurds, alawites, and Christians forming a parliment and making the country a confederacy, WITH POWER SHARING? Syria lives happily ever after?
It’s over.
Fuck Assad, hope he gets fried, but I also fear for what kind of fresh horrors await Syria when this is over.
So using their predictions from Afghanistan, the regime will probably go down today or tomorrow.
Days?
More like hours at this rate…
Assad is a complete Bastard, a murderer, a truly evil fucker but the guys pushing in now… are not exactly very humanitarian guys.
The bloodshed and suffering will not end with this.
Whatever they’re doing with Assad, they should include Tulsi Gabbard.
Everyone is cheering this but you’re forgetting history. What has happened in every other case where an Islamic group has seized control in a country like Syria? What are you guys expecting will be the outcome here?
Hopefully Assad doesn’t use chemical weapons again out of desperation.
At the pace it’s unfolding, it may be over for the Assadists by next week.
Unfortunately Assad will be replaced by someone who is equally bad or worse.
Maybe even just hours. Depends how fast Syrian army units keep surrendering.
None sheds a tear for Assad but everyone prays this doesn’t turn into Isis 2.0. Some of the folks advancing as rebels have pretty dark roots and terrible backers.
Last thing the world needs is more atrocities and more people becoming refugees.
Days? They’re within 6km of the palace. Russia is pulling out of the port as we speak. The Assad regime has hours at best.
and the rebels taking over syria is better how? theyre not a democratic bunch are they
Days. You mean hours. The rebels are within a few km of his palace.
BBC reporting that Assad has fled and is staying in the guest room of Tulsi Gabbard’s house
Assad will fall, but I fear for the minorities once the jihadist takes over. The Islamic rebels may say that they will leave the minorities alone, but just like the taliban in Afghanistan, once they consolidate their power, the oppression begins.
An absolute disaster for the poor people living in Syria. Another Libya potentially.
Last month of 2024 is going crazy
Genuinely embarrassing that so many talkies hyped up Assad as the lion the owns the west and the moment he doesn’t have Russia and Iran propping him up at their full strength, he becomes a leaf in a windstorm. I have to admit, seeing people like Richard Medhurst and Syrian Girl squirm has been really funny.
Watching this unfold in real time has been crazy, this feels like the Taliban’s recapture of Afghanistan x100. And it’s not even just the HTS anymore, basically every rebel group is eating the regime up from from every direction.
I really hope (after Assad hopefully gets what he deserves) all these groups reach a political settlement instead of proceeding to fight each other for the next 10 years and inflicting further misery on the Syrian people, who’ve already been through so much. I really hope to see a prosperous Syria and Iraq in my lifetime. The sorry state these great, ancient civilizations have been in for much of modern history needs to end.
Hoping Assad meets Saddam Hussain, Caucescu, Khadaffi, and Hitler this week.
Other than a weak iran and hezbollah and russia being busy with Ukraine is there any other reason why anti assad folks started expanding now and are suddenly winning?
