I am very excited to be visiting Finland soon, and I have a question I hope you can answer. Does Finland require that I have travel insurance? I was not planning to purchase it, but the finlandabroad.fi website says "In addition to your visa, you are asked to produce a valid passport or travel document, an insurance document for the duration of your stay and the supporting documents."

Am I interpreting this correctly, travel insurance is required?

  1. Travelling anywhere without insurance is a mugs game. If you need a Schengen visa, you must have travel insurance.

  2. Travelling without insurance is crazy. You can afford the trip you can afford the insurance.
