Seeking advice on claim my german pension contribution as I have left germany 2.5 years ago.
My german pension contribution was mandatory and I have read that I can claim it back once I left Germany and I am living outside EU for 24 months.
Appreciate any advice.

  1. The issue here is not with the 24 months, but with the right to insure yourself voluntarily in the german insurance. Whatever your current conditions are, you still have the right to continue to voluntarily pay into the insurance, even if you do not pay into the insurance at the moment. You can only claim your contributions back if you have not been employed in a job in germany in which payments into the pension system are mandatory for more than 24 months, and if you are not taking up another job like that at this point or in the future. But the second requirement is that you do not have the right to continue contributions voluntarily. You still could in theroy do so, so they deny you.

Nobody here can tell you on basis of the information you provide what in your current situation upholds your right to contribute voluntarily at this point, you may need to look into your documentation to figure that one out yourself.
