  1. Will it be the end of the war or now rebels fight each other_

  2. This was a very well coordinated “special military operation”. This is what Russian was hoping to do in Ukraine. I have a feeling that this operation will be studied for many years. There were so many moving parts, as well as many separate rebel groups. I just hope this is a positive turning point for the people of Syria.

  3. A timely reminder of how quickly events can unfold and situations reverse. Anything that paints a picture of Putin weakness has to be a positive.

  4. Putin, the famous 4D chess grandmaster, just got checkmated.

  5. Lets hope that there isn’t a civil war between the Islamists and the reformists now, and that the reformists are about to take power and create a country with reasonable human rights and friendly relationships with its neighbors.

  6. I wonder what this will mean for the Ukraine. Does it change much there? will the Russians be able to redeploy a bunch of assets?

  7. This is just crazy. Assad/Iran beat everyone back when they were at the brink the first time. And now this.

  8. Ouch, Russia’s own allies are now paying dearly for their senseless war. Hopefully this helps turn what little friends they have left against them.

  9. “While in France having a concert at the NEW Notre Dame Cathedral, I liberated Syria on advice of my DNI Tulsi; way to go girl! DJT /s

  10. I thought it’s the Syrian Shiite Army soldiers who are loyal to Assad and not the Arab ones.

  11. AP News saying Assad left the country. Wonder where he is landing?

  12. Unspeakably happy that Russia just got kicked in the head. Real hard.

    And I can’t say I loved Assad a lot. (/Understatement)

But… This is gonna be a difficult period for Syria. I hope beyond hope that the Syrian people get the peace and freedom they deserve.

  13. i never thought i would say this but here goes:

    Allahu Akbar!

May Syria have a peaceful, Just and Happy future!

Government forces withdraw from central Damascus
Conflict between government forces and militants in Syria escalates

The Syrian opposition has taken control of the public radio and television building in central Damascus,
Al Jazeera Arabic reports. According to the channel, this happened against the backdrop of the withdrawal
of government troops from the capital region.

“Syrian troops are leaving the center of Damascus,” the article says . Currently, the rebels have captured
the building of Public Radio and Television in the Syrian capital, which is an important symbolic site in Syria.”
    Google finds the article with

    Okay, Al Jazeera they say:

Syrian opposition rapid offensive: fighters from near the suburbs of Damascus

Syria’s armed opposition says they have captured the capital, Damascus,
and that President Bashar al-Assad has fled the country.
The announcement comes after rebels seized the city of Homs in a lightning offensive hours earlier.
    .
David Des Roches, an associate professor at the Near East South Asia Center for Security Studies,
attributes the success of the Syrian rebels’s lightning offensive to the “lack of morale and leadership”
    in the Syrian army.

“Going all the way back to the 2014 intervention of Iranian and Russian forces,
you started to hear reports about how the Syrian Arab regime forces were basically not led well,
and more interested in extorting bribes from the civilian population than actually fighting fighting.
The actual fighting is being done primarily by Iranian-led proxies supported with air power
from Russia,” he told Al Jazeera.
    …”
More there, you’ve got the link.
    .
So it looks like “noble” Bashar al Asshat (typos…) has treated the army in the same way
as the rest of the population. Officers have fled to Iraq.

I really hope it will be better now.

    I know:
An American, a Japanese a goy from Damascus are in hell.
    They want to phone home.
    The devil agrees.
American reaches his former spouse. Everything okay. $10.
The Japanese almost the same, some thousand Yen.
The guy from Damascus … his mother … asks how the food is there
and whether they still heat the hell with wood or now maybe with oil … and so on.
    Half an hour.
    Devil says “10 US cents”.
The other two ask “Why so cheap?”.
    Devil: “Was a local call”.

  15. One thing for sure, though. They won’t be a democracy lol

  16. God I wish my country had the guts to enact this kind of reform. Our govt is full of crooked self enriching entitled billionaires and it’s only getting worse Jan20th.

In a perfect world it would happen while I’m still able so my sons do not have to face the tyranny. I’m afraid as a populace it’s going to have to get much much worse before people realize what is wrong and take these drastic steps to fix it.
