  1. Did someone in the DPP not deem the person who was attacked worthy of being kept briefed about a case that had repercussions for them?

  2. Surely they should have known she’d be straight to the papers with this.

  3. I hope nobody has forgotten about this case. I hope his life is made hell.

  4. Who?

Edit: typical Irish…how dare this person ask a question, I must feel outraged

  5. Squeezing every last nanosecond out of her 15 minutes.

  6. I know a girl who was raped by her mothers partner and her sister was raped the same night. He was locked up for a few years but they were never notified of his release. The girl bumped into him walking out the door of a shop while he was walking in. It’s disgraceful how victims are treated in this country.

  7. What happened to her was terrible but there’s something very off about her I can’t put my finger on it.

  8. Ireland never fails to royally fuck up the simplest of tasks .

  9. I certainly hope this young woman doesn’t get used by political parties.

  10. Annoyingly the article doesn’t really go in to whether this is a common thing that happens or whether it’s an unusual occurrence that she wasn’t notified in this case.

Like it says this date was set last Monday, and since the state do everything slowly and by post, is it possible a letter is on the way to her already and she would have been notified by this next week?

Or had they genuinely no intention of notifying her at all?

  11. I’m curious to see how Simon Harris will blame the defence forces for this while letting the justice service off scott free.

  12. Seems quite a few people would rather Natasha keep quiet and drop her quest for justice.

I find that a bit strange considering the rabid response of posters here whenever violent criminals are given suspended sentences or other light sentences.

  13. The contempt in these comments aimed at the woman and not the troglodyte who clobbered says to me Ireland has a misogyny problem. Good luck to your wives, daughters and sisters.

  14. The Edge Lords are here with their completely reasonable observations on how much, and in what way, a victim of a brutal violent crime should conduct themself.

    Sorry, I meant herself.

  15. The problem youre seeing here is that the natasha o brien, while being a genuine victim of a terrible assault by a piece of shit, is also a complete dose herself, and puts people off her when shes on camera by how she goes on,

Now if you are going to develop a platform to publicly speak on an issue or become an advocate etc, you still have to be likeable and well spoken, and the girl is neither.

  16. This is my genuine nightmare. If he gets his appeal date without anyone telling me, if he gets out, I’ll end up in the psych unit for a third time over my rape.

  17. Is this standard practice? That’s the main question, airtime of this case aside.

  18. Unrelated to Natasha’s case but I had to delete Instagram because I was arguing with real Irish people, not crazy Americans, about Conor McGregor being a filthy scumbag and trying to defend Nikita as people were victim blaming her. Somebody said (a real account like) that she wasn’t brave for taking a case but she was brave for admitting to her “shortcomings” (i.e. that she “cheated”on her partner…by being raped). I was fuming.

It’s my own fault for being on the Internet and engaging with morons and I shouldn’t be surprised at the absolute stupidity of people.

Hope Cathal Crotty and his enablers are called out for that they are.
