  2. Sure do love these unelected assholes telling Congress what to do.

  3. Could be that the government has already started the spending cuts and this is all for show.

Just look at the defund police during obama. Back then, the media had to make cops look evil before defunding them.

  4. Cut for the poor and middle class so I don’t have to pay taxes please

Also give me grants and money for my pet projects

  5. Fan tastic! We don’t have the money. Further expansion of spending requires expansion of the money supply, which causes inflation.

  6. What’s their thinking on massive spending cuts?

I am sure there is plenty of fat there but it’s public sector. That’s the way it should be. As it’s a genuine real life version of “trickle down” money.

  7. Prediction: They’ll RIF a handful of federal employees, consolidate or close some smaller agency departments, claim they “owned the libs” and declare victory while making no meaningful changes.

  8. Interest is 20% of revenue and growing. Some of the spending challenges are permanently ingrained in the math.

I doubt there’s room to cut Medicaid, Medicare or Social Security.

I think we’re going to have to take small wins here in general of exposing and eliminating some research-based waste. I’ve read some comical examples, so I know there’s fat to trim. The big one would be taking the DoD back to just 2018 spend. Even some of that is VA healthcare and unfunded liabilities.

So much of our spend, not limited to the huge interest burden, is past obligations.
