We aren’t allowed to refer to Uncle Graham that way.
I’d pay good money for that piece of glorious Christmas nostalgia
These early foil decs have a special place in our hearts if you were around for them. They were the biggest, most spectacular and magical things you could get on the average budget. We basically went straight from paper chains to these.
Well they decided to let go of it, and put it all in my attic… I don’t celebrate Christmas
Ah we have green and red ones of those! Foil decorations are class.
Not parents, but my partner has some of her nans old decorations.
This one is 65 years old. Parents gave it to me when I moved out on 1994.
My parents have decorations they were given as wedding presents 64 years ago that still get trotted out every year. My mum also has a Christmas decoration (musical ball) that was given to her for her 21st, she’s now 86 and it still works.
Of course!! And ones that are older. And those had BETTER come to me when they die. I have some from my childhood (am in my mid 30s) and they’re so precious to me even if they’re not necessarily the prettiest.
I have a couple of old busted rotten robins that are about 35 years old. Eyes missing, feathers fallen off, plastic around feet stripped exposing the metal wires etc
Don’t care they are from my childhood Christmas’ from the 80’s and they stay on my tree til I die!
We have a singing mouse that’s 35+ yes old and still works!
My parents have had exactly the same decorations all of my life, golden folding stars included. I’m nearly 50.
It’s like a 1970s divali nightmare, but at Christmas.
I remember those! I still have some tree decs that were my parents, some little mini crackers. No idea if they have anything inside!
This ragged thing from my childhood in the 70s goes up every year. Complete with Woolies price tag.
“refuse”? Why should they get rid of it?
Just ordered some foil garlands on the internet because the house does not look the same without them. Poundland used to sell them but no longer do. Reminds me of being a child.
I do have a 30 year old Christmas tree and my nans tree lights that have funny flower foils on them.
No, but when I was seven a house across the road from my block put up christmas decorations you could see through the window and frosted glass door.
This includes lights, bunting and a two-foot high hollow Santa head that was grotesque even by the standards of decorations at the time.
Despite people clearly living there, they’ve never been taken down. For context, I’m now 42.
My parents have old Christmas decorations. They part of family history. Lots of happy memories. All families do the same. It nice to keep them.

No, it’s only 42 years old.
My mum has my brothers (56) decorated toilet roll tube (painted tube with glued on shiny paper) from nursery she hangs every year
Rookie numbers. My mum has tree decorations that are at least 100 years old, handed down from her mother when she was a child.
