Tesla Leans Hard On The Tax Credits That Elon Musk Wants To Cut. It’s a hypocrisy of epic proportions. A company led by a CEO who vehemently opposes federal incentives is now leveraging them aggressively as 2024 draws to a close.

  1. Now? Tesla has be depending on the federal government for over a decade.

  2. I think the idea for Musk and other self-proclaimed libertarians is more about using the government to their advantage. Big government for me, small government for you.

  3. You ain’t seen NUTHIN yet. The corruption that will take place after Jan 20th, will blow your mind.

  4. The headline misrepresents the story:

Musk says his company can survive (as have the German companies said without tariffs) without rebates, and GM/Honda, Ford and the also-rans can’t sell many cars.

Tesla has a lower manufacturing cost than others.

Yes, he is playing a political game with the rebates, so Tesla can have it both ways. But we desperately need Tesla and other EV makers to succeed.

I don’t think you can meaningfully accuse robber-barons, CEOs and such as hypocrites. They are just playing the hyper-capitalism game according to the rules. Let’s change the rules!

  5. whoever writes these articles… clearly does not do research.

TSLA has streamlined production… they can finish a car in 1 minute.

TSLA has lowered prices and still makes profit per vehicle.

TSLA competes in China… China is all-in on EVs and is dominating the planet. Tesla is selling just as much EVs in China.

Gas auto-industry has LONG dragged its feet on progress… because they are tied down by contracts – supply lines – and unions.

Nothing against Unions… but TESLA is a Bull in a glass store… they’re going to break everything.

    And I HATE Elon’s politics… but don’t live in a fantasy world.

  6. Federal debt is above $37 trillion plus $2 trillion this year.

  7. Elon & Vivek can cut government spending enormously by first slashing NASA programs conducted by outside contractors.

    I’m not holding my breath.

  8. As long as they exist, why wouldn’t he? This doesn’t make any sense. You can want them gone, but also not shoot yourself in the foot and leverage them like everyone else until they are actually gone, that’s not hypocrisy, it’s common sense.

  9. It’s the conservative way. Use government money to enrich themselves and then pull up the ladder for future generations. That’s how we’re in this mess in the first place.
