Antibiotics dealers
Bit of a misleading headline given the GP gave him a referral to see an ENT specialist. The real story is the waiting times to see said specialists, although the GP should have made him a more urgent referral if he was aware of the family history of throat cancer (with his brother dying from it).
Further evidence of how stretched our health service is.
The first thing is that the guy deserves an extra pint at the pub, in remission from a stage 4 and he has raised 25k.
Now, getting to the point people want to complain about, GP’s, cancer can be easily missed. The reality is that these things happen, the issue here isn’t with the GP as he didn’t find any serious signs but he still referred him to an ENT due to his symptoms, the issue is that our NHS is in such a state that it takes months to get to the point you actually see a specialist.
So all you people jumping already to hate on GP’s, at least think about the process, not all cancers are easily identified.
Maybe the GP meant it was nothing for him to worry about.
It’ll be 6 months to live for everyone from now on
If people seriously want to jump onto the GPs missing stuff dumb bandwagon despite their years of proper training and experience, wait until you hear about all the quack trained PAs and ACPs replacing them.
My mum presented to her GP four times with no outcome before she collapsed and we took her to hospital, at which point the cancer was terminal.
