Just leave them up and become a year round Christmas themed establishment.
That’s the Beagle in Stevenage. My mate Darren did them but they wouldn’t give him a pickled egg for free while he was working so he wired it up to 60,000 watts as a petty revenge tactic. Anyone within 70ft during the switch on this Tuesday will get a free tan.
Just hope you don’t drink Guinness
January 1st dig out the air gun and shoot them down.
Reminds me of the scene in goodfellers when they burn down the restaurant
The pub I worked was run by the biggest egomaniac going and his strung up wife. The pub is huge and would go big at Christmas.
He would close the pub for one day and we would all go in, work a solid shift decorating where he would buy us pizzas and it was great fun.
I still stand by the fact that for 364 days of the year he is the biggest tosser – he especially made sure you worked your birthday – but for one day, he was a decent human being.
Weird what Christmas does to people.
I used to quite enjoy taking the decorations down in January when I worked in pubs. It was a nice thing to do on a dead afternoon and it marked the end of the amateur drinkers season where my job would become nice and dull again.
Classic Santas Piste ale!!!
As someone very tall that looks like a nightmare
OP can you put up a photo when it’s the evening to see the decs at night with the lights on? 😊
Taking down is the easy bit.
It is unraveling the knotted mess and putting them up again next year that is the devil’s task.
Is it true that patrons can’t sit at the bar in any pub anymore?
I’ve been in pubs up north in the UK that just leave them up.
They don’t realise it, but it is quite the novelty walking into a pub in that one week of sunshine* that we get a year to be greeted by such a festive scene.
*Ok, saying we get a whole week *is* exaggerating somewhat.
Does every pub in the UK look like this? I swear everything I see the pub looks *exactly* like this lol. Not the shit on the ceiling just the bar itself
