Everybody has the right to return to their homeland, I just hope it stays safe for them when they return.
One of the things about immigration that people always seem to want to avoid talking about is why people feel like they need to leave their home countries. Often it’s because of instability, violence and the threat of harm. And often, they’d much rather live in their home country than as a hated minority in someone else’s.
I hope a lot of these people find that it’s now safe to return, if they want to, and that Syria becomes a more stable place to live. But I fear that it will know a lot more chaos and violence in the near future.
While we’re on this topic, I’m shocked at the lack of empathy people are displaying towards Syrian refugees, even right now that we know about how conflict-ridden Syria has been.
If anyone said the same thing about Ukrainian refugees once their war ends, everyone would be up in arms. Racism at its finest.
lol BS. My Syrian refugee neighbours have been going back to Syria for years. The NHS wasn’t good enough for them so they had private medical treatment in Syria. The sooner you realise 85% of these people don’t come here for asylum purposes but for economic purposes, the sooner you’ll stop believing such charades.

Is it fair to think that if you claim asylum in this country due to war in your homecountry, and then you holiday to your homecountry once a year for religious holidays/Christmas/seeing family, that your asylum should be revoked?
If I was them I would certainly wait to see how things settle in the region before returning but I understand why they are so desperate.
I will personally pay for one ticket for one of them!
People should take the hint, Islamists have taken over and Syrian refugees in the UK are largely celebrating. Whilst I’m sure much of it is about celebrating the defeat of Assad, would most normal British people consider an Islamist takeover of our country worthy of celebration? The leader of HTS, the group which will now run Syria, is the same man who led the Al-Nusra Front and is undoubtedly responsible for an enormous amount of war crimes. Don’t be so mistaken, the jubilation about the defeat of Assad among many Syrians is just as much celebratory towards who his replacement is and the corresponding ideology.
Maybe this is the way to solve the migrant/asylum seeker crisis. Just male peoples home countries better and they won’t want to leave.

This isnt going to end well. theres like a douzen different factions in syria that overthrew the goverment. Some are kurish seperatists others are staunchly opposed to that. Theres going to be blood there even if they can somehow get everyone to agree on whos in charge.
Not a single religous government has ever been able to hold a democratic, secular country. Ever.
I wouldn’t, it’s due to turn into a salafist hell hole, not sure why anyone would want to return to that.
Somehow I doubt they will all be rushing to return. I mean who would give up living in the wonderful UK. There are no free houses, benefits and NHS hospitals in Syria.
Syria is gonna be the next Libya lol, in 10 years they’re gonna wish for assad to come back
I don’t really think the Syrians living in Europe would want to return permanently. Maybe for a visit.
Ah yes Islamist factions are known to create great countries for women to live in
They should probably give it a few weeks to see that it doesn’t turn into another Libya first, unfortunately.
I woke up to a free Syria today, and I hope to wake up to a free Syria for the rest of my life.
It’s been incredibly emotional to see all the footage and to follow along with the cities being liberated.
I suspect many are going to wait and see how things pan out with whatever new government forms. Sad to say, and hopefully won’t be the case, but could very well turn out worse.
I wouldn’t wanna rush home just yet.. see if things stabilise or if Russia will launch more attacks
Good. And don’t forget to take your Palestine flags with you.
