Fun fact: Thaddeus Stevens, a radical Republican congressman from Civil War and reconstruction eras wanted to defend Jefferson Davis during his trial for treason, because had he won, it would mean that the South had the right to secede, meaning that Confederacy wasn’t part of the US and the Union victory meant that it’s right to claim the southern states as defeated colonies, which was his goal. To keep those regressives from representation.
Too bad he failed.
Biden’s biggest legacy will be the complete inaction in allowing fascism take hold. A true Neville Chamberlain of our time. Threw away a lifetime of pubic service for it too.

One of the few restrictions the Supreme Court has put on Presidential pardons is that they can not be issued expressly to abrogate 5th amendment protections. A pardon must be accepted for the protection from prosecution to apply. If a subject rejects the pardon, they retain their fifth amendment. And their potential for jeopardy.
