  1. >When Hamas’s Yahya Sinwar launched Operation Al-Aqsa Flood against Israel on October 7, 2023, he intended to deal a decisive blow against a powerful nation-state—and he succeeded. **But the state his attack has devastated turned out to be Israel, not Iran, his key sponsor.**

How is this still up lmao what a failure of an editor. Literally the opening paragraph

  2. Not everything. He still has the PMU (Iraq), the Houthis (Yemen) and his nuclear facilities so there’s that…. granted all of it could still change in the next year.

  3. Yes, Hezbollah literally bombs Bibi’s home and had to call for a ceasefire because in his own words, the IDF is exhausted, but it’s Khamenei the one who loses everything.

They can’t beat Iran but writing propaganda is clearly easier.

  4. Iran still has quite a few proxies in Iraq as well as the Houthis in Yemen. They’re not completely out of the picture (yet), but their influence and power over the region has been slashed in half with them losing their proxies in Syria, Gaza, and Lebanon. Getting bitched by Israel and losing all of these proxies, including their crown jewel Hezbollah which they have diligently built up over the past 40 years, in a year must sting.

The Ayatollahs are losing credibility and legitimacy across the middle east, and fast. It’s only a matter of time before they screw up internally and get eaten alive by the people of Iran, like Syrians did with Bashar Al Assad. Ruling through violence and fear has their days in power numbered.

  5. As the old saying goes, “Play stupid games, win stupid prizes”.

Nonetheless, Iran still has more client states and proxies in the bag. Certainly, they are in danger though. We can only hope Iran is the next to fall, just imagine a peaceful Middle East.

  6. >The challenge it now faces in Gaza is a humanitarian and administrative crisis, not a security one.

Actually kind of amazing to see the neoliberal imperialism apologists extraordinaire from *The Atlantic* admitting that Israel is not, in fact, “defending itself” in Gaza. Of course, we all knew that, but a confession ain’t bad.
