Closer UK and EU ties will boost growth, says Reeves

1. No Rachel. What will boost growth is reentering the Single Market.

   The ties won’t cut non-tariff barriers and bring back 25% of foreign investment into the EU to the UK.

2. Having access to some kind of common market with a bloc of other countries in Europe, maybe something that allows free movement too… now that would be something.

3. It’s not like the UK was part of a union of united European counties that gave it access to trade, funding and free movement or anything…

4. Yes, that’s working great for Germany and France right now…

5. Who else thinks they’re keeping the return to the single market as an ace up their sleeve for the next election? Leavers will be split between Tories and Reform, Lib Dems will probably make an electoral pact – demographic shifts will mean fewer boomers/conspiracy nuts. The only obstacle is the right wing press, or perhaps, their own lack of spine in takjng them on.
