  1. The article doesnt even list what essential items they sold. Their excuse is that if WHSmiths can stay open then so can we… which is pretty weak. It seems they got away with it because of loose definition of the rules.

  2. Sounds fair.

Plenty of “non essential” shops stayed open either having a fridge to fall under selling food or a few items amongst aisles of other tat thst let them stay open under the guide of selling home repair supplies and if its good for one its gotta be good for all.

  3. Terrible decision. Everyone who didn’t close when they should have, didn’t get fully jabbed up when the Government told them to, didn’t wear masks when ordered to by Boris, didn’t stay indoors, afraid, watching the daily death counts as they pissed their pants as the leaders of both tories and labour had their booze filled sex parties. They were responsible for the billions who died of this disease. They should all be executed.

Anyway, there’s a war on now. It’s now time to stop being medical experts, we are all currently military strategists with a deep understanding of the long history between Russia and Ukraine. Oh and we’re also psychological experts and know how to spot a madman when the bbc tells us.

  4. It’s only fair in that several non-essential businesses were allowed to stay open by playing fast and loose with the legislation. They are not an essential business and the items they sold could easily have been bought from a supermarket instead (an actual essential business). It’s nonsense for them to think they were in any way essential, however it just shows how badly the restrictions were applied in the first place.

  5. At this point, fair enough. If the government didn’t expect anyone to abide by the rules – which were flimsy in the first place – and denied people other means to keep their living, then I agree with these folks.

Ultimately what extra covid spread by a single shop is there going to be if people are already out and about in similar premises? The whole *only certain* restrictions thing was every little helps taken to absurdity.

  6. So i assume these assholes support Johnson’s parties at number 10. As long as someone was breaking the rules somewhere then they were justified I breaking them too.

  7. Surely in hindsight all any shop selling any items had to do was get some masks in to sell to become essential?
