How significant are ICC arrest warrants for Netanyahu, Gallant? • FRANCE 24 English

The International Criminal Court on Thursday issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former defence minister, as well as Hamas’s military chief Mohammed Deif. The court said it had found “reasonable grounds” to believe Netanyahu and Gallant bore “criminal responsibility” for the war crime of starvation as a method of warfare, as well as the crimes against humanity of murder, persecution, and other inhumane acts. France 24’s Andrew Hilliar takes a closer look at the ICC’s charges and what he says is a significant move by the court even if those accused are unlikely to ever face prosecution.

  1. ICC: Arrest Putin for war crimes US: Bravo! Justice is served..
ICC: Arrest Yahu for war crimes US: BOOO! Arrest those judges..
Western 'humanism', 'democracy' and 'civilization' at their finest.

  2. 98% of the Nations of the WORLD have spoken. They all have stated publicly that the agree with the ICC warrant AND will follow the Ruling to "Arrest them all." NATIONS: Germany, Italy, Spain, Canada, Australia, India, etc… TODAY IS A GREAT DAY.!

  3. Let me save everyone's time: no, the arrest warrant won't have any impact. Your local traffic violations court has more power than ICC.

  4. The US admits their rejection of the charges has no legal basis and in fact they have done no legal assessment of the charges.
In that statement the USA have lost all credibility.

  5. The ICC has gone against advice provided to it by legal associations and Ngo organisations. Action Against Hunger advised the ICC that there was no famine in Gaza yet The ICC states that Netanyahu is responsible for one. No comment or blame put on Hamas for stealing 99 International Aid WFP trucked to deliberately starve Gazans. A complaint has also been made to the UK Bar Association against Karim Khan's conduct at the ICC.

  6. The Senior Prosecutor ICC Karim Khan is under investigation for allegedly committing sexual harassment and unwanted touching of a female ICC colleague. This allegedly occurred over a prolonged period of time. The woman also made an allegation that Karim Khan threatened to destroy her if she exposed him. It begs the question! Has Karim Khan rushed to issue an arrest warrant because he is distracting from his legal issues? Has he also rushed this as he may soon be disbarred in the UK?

  7. Europe, Canada, UK, Australia, Japan said they will abide by the ICC decision.
For Netanyahu, the world has shrink to Israel, US, Argentina, Palau and Micronesia

  8. Political circus!
While Israel protects its citizens from Hamas etc.
The court targets the leaders defending innocent lives. Israel’s right to self-defence is undeniable, and no court can erase that truth.

  9. This ICC probably failed lawyers who can't see that Israel has a job to do,for world peace.🎗🇮🇱🇬🇧✌

  10. A court thay has concluded a verdict of guilt without proper investigation is nothing but a useless kangaroo court.

  11. Book Netanyahu Nobody will miss him Maybe his wife and that’s Maybe. Maybe she is in Captivity also who knows. Like Israel is in Captivity by Netanyahu.

  12. Is Israel going to hold the rest of the world Ransome the ICC is all we have left for the human consumption the time as come to up hold what Nessarise

  13. When the enemy escapes into the civilian population causing humanitarian disaster, children and women should be respected, separated and provided with safety. Men should be keep for observation.
