That is just cheap vote-grabbing rhetoric. Merz never had a convincing foreign policy profile nor did he ever show any interest at all in Eastern European problems in general or Ukrainian interests in particular. He’s just role-playing “Kanzler things”.
That being said, Ukraine could certainly use the Taurus. Will it win the war for them? Well, not by itself but it might contribute.
