Why Republicans Might Oppose Trump’s Push to Undo Biden’s Triumphs. Biden’s signature legislation, the IRA, overwhelmingly benefits Republican districts. It would be politically and economically unwise to repeal it given that it is spurring investment in communities “sorely overlooked” for decades.

And these communities benefiting from it probably voted 80% for Trump. . . I’d bet they would find some way to blame “the libs” if all of a sudden the jobs evaporated because of Trump
If Republicans were interested in facts, they wouldn’t be Republicans
Republicans would be complete morons if they tried to repeal the IRA.
They are the primary beneficiaries.
Trump doesn’t care. He tried to undo everything Obama did. And he will try to undo everything Biden did. It’s not about if it’s good or not. His heart is full of hate, and he hates anyone who is better than him. And literally everyone can make a case they are better than him.
Trump is a petty little child who can’t stand seeing his predecessor get any credit, even if it’s for things that massively benefit the country. As for congressional Republicans, well, this is the person they bow down to and anointed their cult leader. A man who is not only infantile and stupid but also a rapist, convicted criminal and lifelong con man.
Will any of them grow spines and find the courage to put their country first and oppose him? The jury is still out.
If you want to know what Trump is likely to do, look for the opposite of what the New York Times recommends.
“Triumphs.” LOL.
Ah yes Republican lawmakers famously don’t pass policies that harm their constituency. Oklahoma, Alabama, Mississippi, these are all places flourishing with the economic and political gains delivered by Republican policies, these people are educated, healthy, wealthy and happy.
Republican governors don’t do things like turn down Medicaid expansions while also opposing state subsidized insurance, they don’t make spiteful decisions that leave millions uninsured to score points against Dems.
Republican lawmakers don’t restrict abortion rights or go after criminalizing cannabis because those things are unpopular policies that harm their constituents bodily and economically.
…I have just been informed of some disturbing news.
He tried to overthrow an election and ran on smoot-hawley tariffs on our closest trading partners. It’s kind of a give that Trump will make a “politically and economically unwise” decision. Until he faces consequences for any of his actions, why would he care about being unwise? Clearly no one in government or the electorate actually care if a policy is wise or not.
Ahem…hasn’t the New York Times noticed that Trump depends on his base becoming more miserable? Rest assured, he’ll blame Democrats for it and the base will believe him, too.
They won’t.
We’ve seen time and time again that Republicans don’t give a fuck about their constituents, because their constituents care more about hurting other people than helping themselves
But it wasn’t their idea, and so that makes it BAD, and they will overturn it to placate Trump and his INSANE wishes, just because it wasn’t their idea, and they didn’t enact it, no matter how good it is for their state.
How about start charging welfare states more that take more from the government then give. Oh wait they are red states
It’s not about doing what’s best for the country, it’s about grievance and graft.
I had a suspicion this DOGE wasn’t going to get anything done, just more bureaucracy, and I think that’s what’s happening.
No currently serving Republican Senator or Congresspereon will publicly oppose or disagree with anything Donald Trump says or does. They will ignore questions they don’t like, claim that they were told there would be no fact checking, or else call it fake news spread by the Democrat Party to hurt Trump.
I think the real question for the Republican congress is what legislation will make me a billionaire.
He doesn’t need to undo it, just take credit for it. Which he will.
i love all these articles about how anyone, especially in the gop, will stop him from doing anything when past history shows they all just let him do what he wants.
