  1. That might be more expensive than processing them. It sounds like all these people will be in limbo for an indeterminate period of time. Although some will want to go back now.

  2. I’m sure Syrians granted asylum over the last few years are also pretty damn excited to be permanently heading back soon.

  3. Yep. I’m sure it will be fine to be gay, sleep outside of marriage, drink a beer or eat a bacon sandwich without fear of having your flesh whipped off of your back. I’m sure the new flag Al Quaeda has means that Syria will become a bit like Belgium.

  4. I just remember how fabulous everything turned out in places like Iraq and Libya once their evil leaders had been ousted. The Americans are also currently bombing Syria, and Turkey and Israel are also involved. If I were Syrian, and given all of the above, getting out would be the *last* thing on my mind.

    /s. Just in case.

  5. We have to be careful of what turkey is going to do. They are going to try and crush the kurds in the north east. In order for syria to become a successful state it needs to maintain a brought coalition, end the barbaric attacks against groups, modernize with the rest of the world.

  6. Banning pork is fine. Branding someone as evil incarnate and unclean for eating it, may be a red flag that your country has some issues in society.

  7. Assad’s wife faces having her British citizenship stripped? Lucky woman

  8. This could go either way really. It does seem that many asylum seekers are keen to return already if they can

This group also has a 99% positive decision rate according to this article and if they’re still using the questionnaire method for some of them (can’t remember now if they had to arrive prior to some date) then this does make some sense

Does mean that we are reducing the number of people rotating through asylum seeker accommodation though which may well mean we will need to invest in extra accommodation

  9. You just know that tomorrow, every migrant washing up on these shore from France will all suddenly claim they’re Syrian refugees.

  10. It’s hard for some people to understand, but eating pigs, is not causing pain and suffering to other humans. You don’t need to worry about it.

Banning girls from education is causing suffering to people.

When a society has issues seeing the difference between these, and allowing the banning of education but not allowing eating a sausage. It’s a good indicator that society is going to be a problem. Reason means nothing to a society like that. everything is dictated by religion and those that preach it.

Syria has a chance to a fresh start. It won’t make one. The power vacuum will be filled by hardliners who rely on religion and nationalism to create another shit hole for the majority of the country. The same as it is now in Iraq, Libya and Afghanistan.

  11. I predict they will be un-pausing them in a few weeks once the entropy of victory sets in and the jockeying for power begins
