  5. Ukraine’s debt in september was 148.6 USD bn and cancelling 4.5bn would be about 3 percent. Which is great for future development of Ukraine when hopefully the war ends next year if the will of the Ukrainian people and western world leaders come true.

    End this war. We have nothing to win.

  7. Cancel it all. Ukraine has lost so many lives to defend Europe and USA against their greatest threat (Russia- that THEY say is their greatest threat) without one loss of life to their own people. They deserve payment for that service, and unlimited weapons and logistics.

  10. Trump wants to make a deal with Putin, Putin wants to keep attacking Ukraine. How about this for leverage? Every day Putin continues his war we confiscate $1billion of frozen Russian assets and give it to Ukraine.

  18. Well Ukraine wasn’t going to repay it anyways. If they lose the war they won’t be in position to pay, if they won they’d likely have it forgiven or use Russian war reparations to recoup.

    Biden sees Trumps plan to force Ukraine to surrender which means they wouldn’t be repaying their debt to the U.S. he’s doing this now for the credit of helping his ally rather than what Trump would do to them.

  22. if that happens and our student loans aren’t forgiven, it’ll create a pretty insurmountable position for the democrats in 2 years.

  26. Between this and the student loan forgiveness Biden’s presidency made me actually appreciate paying taxes. It’s the first time I felt that my taxes were making monumental long term investments into the lives of everyday people

  27. Good for Biden. $4.5 B is a drop in the bucket for the USA, but a big gesture for Ukraine, both helping people and advancing geopolitical agenda. No brainer move for me.
