  1. So far, Germany, Sweden, Austria, Greece and France have announced the suspension of asylum requests from Syria. More countries are expected to do the same soon.

  2. I am sad because the civil war hasn’t ended. Israel and united state backed rebel will fight against the turkey rebelled awhile Israel themselves trying to do a invasion on Syria.

  3. Just my opinion: I actually think it could be a good thing long term if these refugees returned. They’ve lived in a liberal democracy for years and are likely more educated than their peers in Syria, just given the situation.

There is an opportunity for the new government to integrate these people to help stabilize the country by utilizing their knowledge and skills as well as ones who may have reached higher places in society to work to improve foreign relations.

  4. It’s far too early to make such a decision… Syria’s still a warzone, it should not be considered safe for now

Anyway, given that most refugees must now live in Europe under work/student/family reunion visas it won’t concern that many people

  5. Good, I hope all Syrian refugees will return to their country safely, after all Europe is for Europeans and this coming from a non-European, I don’t think Europeans are racist or xenophobic for thinking this way, European cultures are rich and European countries have to protect their secular democratic values

  6. I think “Germany jumps at the chance to pause asylum applications” is a more accurate title but that would be editorialising.

Depending on how this whole thing turns out, this might not be all that bad, or they’ll be getting a lot more migrants in a couple of years.
