Yoga instructor Maya Lev, third from left, gets some help from some of her students on Sunday as she begins moving props into the new home of Yoga Center Santa Cruz. The center will begin offering Iyengar Yoga classes in a 3,300-square-foot studio that was the longtime home of Hart’s Fabrics on Seabright Avenue. Lev, the director and owner of Yoga Center Santa Cruz has been teaching in temporary quarters since she needed to vacate the center’s home of 23 years on Front Street to make way for a housing project. She said, “This is our rebirth, like a Phoenix rising out of the ashes. First there was COVID, and then our long-term space was demolished.” Master teacher Kofi Busia’s 5-day intensive workshop for yoga practitioners of all levels will be the first classes at the new studio beginning on Dec. 18. Following that, Lev plans to have teachers offering four to five classes each day at the new Seabright studio. (Shmuel Thaler – Santa Cruz Sentinel)
