  1. The Assad regime is gone, the Syrian soldiers who were manning their side of the border have abandoned their posts. The Israeli foreign minister has stated thay this is temporary until a new Syrian government can restation troops there. How is this “not necessary?” There is still a flippin IS presence in Syria, of course it’s necessary to control the borders.

  2. Wow, I’m totally not shocked that Israel is being opportunistic and taking advantage of the chaos to expand their borders.

    I think everyone has seen this coming a mile away.

  3. Let’s be factual here, no one is grabbing any land. Israel is simply securing military positions on its border which was previously secured in an agreement with a regime that no longer exists

  4. What Israel is doing is pretty much a non news story. The real news and ones who will most likely exploit the situation is Turkey, especially in relation to the Kurdish controlled parts of Syria.

    Turkey has most to gain from what is occurring right now and they didn’t back and support HTS just for the hell of it.
