It appears France wants its cake… and doesn’t with to abide by international law.
There have always been tensions and quarrels between France and Britain. This specifically is the reason why the union had been founded; for peace keeping among rivaling neighbors.
If Jersey is being strict in making sure boats have the correct licenses then France doing so too seems fair. A silly move by the British boat given current tensions.
Why are they rowing, don’t they have engines?
Fight! Fight! Fight!
If it doesn’t have a license to be there, that’s fair enough. Just like any French boats fishing in UK/Channel Islands waters without a license should be detained.
If they weren’t fishing legally I have no issue with this whatsoever.
If this turns out to be tit for tat nonsense I’ll be much less morally conflicted over gradually dropping french quotas to zero in future fisheries rounds.
We could make an end to the touquet’s treaty. I would love to see the Calais jungle being move to Douvres.
Good. If they are fishing illegally they should be stopped. It goes both ways.
Awesome
Actually you’re right, this is silly, France should just get out of the Sandhurst/Le Touquet agreement and let all migrants cross the channel, would be much more efficient to annoy the UK.

Can’t really expect rules to be applied to foreign fishermen and not also have foreign countries apply their rules to ours. Not really anything controversial here.
Fair enough, if they are fishing illegally.
France threatening to use similar tactics to Belarus and Turkey what a club to be in.
Well the Brits wanted Brexit, they got it. No exceptions should be made.
Time to send our navy there if they try to stop ours then we take theirs or fire warning shots I dont know who france think they are.
Fair is fair. Shouldn’t have been there.
So erm
About those mechanisms for solving disputes that we all agreed to…
some light reading for **both** Paris and Westminster
If you dont have a license to fish somewhere, don’t go and fish there.
That said, I’ve read somewhere that this boats license was revoked without any rationale, which if true, we should go ahead and revoke licenses issued to all french vessels.

The picture at the top of the article appears to be of a French registered vessel. [https://www.fleetmon.com/vessels/ludovic-geoffray-ii_9417581_3342196/?language=en](https://www.fleetmon.com/vessels/ludovic-geoffray-ii_9417581_3342196/?language=en).
