This is a useful survey but IMHO it doesn’t go far enough to define and describe that potential climate policies that might come closest to actually helping control climate change. For instance a policy of having fossil fuel companies seal off wells to minimize methane leaks will of course get a lot of support. But even with a small set of possible policies to rate, 52% say they are doing the right amount in response. And nowhere is Pew asking about policies like not eating meat, not flying, no ICE cars, curtailment of heating and cooling. It’s like there’s the assumption that the limited policies they ask about are all that will be needed. I wonder what responses would be for the policies that will really be required?
