  2. I read the Tom Bower book House of Beckham earlier this year where he implies David gets passed over for a knighthood because his dodgy taxes did not pass scrutiny.

  3. Weird. I was just listening to Patrick Stewart’s memoir. (He played Captain Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek: The Next Generation and Professor X in the X-Men. Plus a renowned stage actor in the Royal British Theatre)

    When he was tapped for a knighthood, he made it sound like it was a total surprise to him. Just a random letter in the mail. Do folks who get considered really have no clue or was Stewart just being modest or trying to tell a good story??

    (Many have his anecdotes in his book had the air of tales oft repeated and probably a bit ginned up for dramatic effect. Very charming but sometimes pushed my credulity.)
