  1. That doesn’t surprise me. It’s the same in Czech republic and I imagine it’s very similar in other countries too.

  2. Yep and to be clear those are far right billionnaires who push hard for eurosceptic, fascist crap.

  3. According to reddit, it’s perfectly fine in every other country except for Hungary.

  4. The word “French” seems to be rather redundant here …

  5. So? I’ve got a French press, and I’m not even close to being a millionaire.

  6. You can buy one for a couple of Euros in Auchan. Weird flex.

They’re also not that great, I recommend a percolator.

  7. The very existence of billionaires is incompatible with democracy. Unless radical measures are taken to limit personal wealth to a reasonable amount, we will always live under the yoke of a small number of powerful individuals who no one ever voted for.

  8. I mean isnt most media? Gotta keep the people angry at each other instead of the billionaires

  9. That’s what you do. Make millions, buy newspaper and make your own news, make billions – simple calculations really 🤷🏽‍♂️

  10. Kind of hard to afford a newspaper outlet on a regular salary…

  11. Le Canard Enchaîné may be the only free press left in France

  12. Slightly better than being owned by politicians *cries in romania*

  13. problem is; with the arrival of internet, written press is now a loss leader. the main way to survive is through either patronage from billionaires (who are right wing by definition), or large-scale small donations (wikipedia, substack, patreon…). the latter being too volatile to provide stable jobs

  14. Well, I guess then that normal folks can’t afford to own a newspaper in France. Who would have thought that?

  15. That is also true at the regional level where local newspapers belong to the local (reputable) mafias.

  16. And what is the problem? At least it’s not controlled by a state.

  17. What?? I thought the French press was owned by commoners and brick workers!!! This is big news

  18. French press is nice but I prefer moka pot.

You can’t make better coffee than that and if italians use it, I will for sure too

  19. New rules for Democracy: Billionaires cannot own any press or publishing or social media.

  20. if a French news outlet is worth a billion and you are the owner, you’re a billionaire. this is such an extreme nontroversy

  21. I’ve got a French press myself. Never had better coffee

  22. They who own the information can steer that information in whatever direction they want. Especially when people are glued to phones nowadays. That allows for unprecedented levels of control over people unlike anything before.

  23. Thank goodness it’s just the French press. Imagine if that pattern was replicated internationally.

  24. What else but influence and power would they spend their money on once they’ve gotten past the second or third luxury yacht?

  25. Every billionaire is a sociopath, they are not on our side.
