2. I unfortunately agree. James Bond was established with many toxic masculinity traits, some has carried overtime. A woman being cast as that role is a contradiction.

   Too many people would turn their backs on it. Society isn’t ready for a gender swap on that franchise.

3. We already have so many female spy thrillers. James Bond can stay James Bond. If you need a new female spy film give Charlize Theron an Atomic Blonde sequel/prequel.

4. Just make a new character. Making James Bond a woman would require such a rework it wouldn’t even be James Bond any more. Besides we got a black, female 007 in the previous film.

5. Gender bending or race bending established characters doesn’t bother me but I’d much rather watch an original creation made for that gender/race.

   Atomic Blonde was a great female lead action/spy movie.

7. I really hope they never make Bond female. You have to respect the source material and James Bond was written as a heterosexual chauvinistic male. You can instead make a new female agent in the Bond universe who could go on missions with Bond and then later have her own spin off series.

   James Bond is not a title, it’s his name. And he’s a white Scottish dude.

   It would be the equivalent of Carmen Sandiego being a dude played by Denzel Washington in her next film. Or a live-action Peppa Pig being played by a male hedgehog.

9. Why not make a film franchise with a female spy? Oh wait, that is work, and hollywood avoids that like the plague.

   I, for one, liked agent Carter. The story of how a badass female spy in a post wwii world with supes should have had a dozen seasons, but disney aint right in the head.

10. I don’t think changing a character’s genders, races or other aspects is wrong, but it’s lazy when not done for the right reasons. Changing Bond into a female character because “it’s high time” is not a legitimate reason.

    The other user said it well there have been thrillers with a female lead. They deserve more support rather than turning a franchise on its head because not only it creates unnecessary controversy it turns people off the project itself and when the project sucks weirdos come out to gloat that we told you.

    Best to make new stuff.

14. The issue is the concept of masculinity is integral to the entire point of James Bond. He isn’t a spy who happens to be a man, he is A Man™ as defined by that time periods idea of it I don’t know how you gender swap that without breaking it. 

    The closest I think you could get would be to have it be masc lesbian and Hollywood really really doesn’t like those type of women. When they say “oh cast a woman”, what they actually mean is “oh make it femme”. 

    Femme James Bond is an oxymoron. 

15. why are they so fixated on taking existing characters and destroying them. Female ghostbusters? Female Bond? If you want to empower women then get off your ass, come up with some original ideas and actually write something unique

16. One bright side of the wave of conservatism taking over governments in western world is hopefully silly demands like this might go away.

    They tried female Bond types, people don’t want to watch them. If there was money to be made Hollywood would do it.

17. Why not make a new female character that exists in the same world as James Bond. Give her her own identity rather than putting the weight of decades of James Bond movies and books on her?

21. I mean, if Hollywood wants to make another bomb (or in this case series of bombs) that loses a bunch of money, by all means make Bond a female.

23. Just make a new original movie about a female spy goddammit! Salt is a good female spy movie. Make something like that instead of gender swapping or race swapping characters that already has established how they look for decades. Unless the studio wants another flop movie then be my guest.

24. I think there should be a female “bond”, but give her her own series, no need to make James bond a woman for sake of fairness.
