This will be the way for the foreseeable future though.
get a smaller tank is your only solution
Why didn’t you simply shop around?
Your first 11 hours out of a 37.5 hour week on the minimum wage , welcome to a fianna fail/fianna gael/ green party ireland!
You’ll be feeling lucky in a few weeks that you could fill up your tank.
Fuck it. Burn green.
A lucozade and chicken fillet roll will probably hike that to 150 quid
I literally paid 200.7 /l of diesel this morning in Templeogue like an absolute chump. Then paid 183.7 this evening in Killester. Absolute robbery in South Dublin today cos all the pumps were similar.
I forget, how much of it is taxed?
Edit. First thing on google
Tax for Petrol 55.23%. Diesel 50.86%.
At the very least the gov is raking it in.
I’m driving around on a tank I filled for 1.69 last week. God, those were the days
Time to go electric I guess!
What does it cost to charge an electric car?
Thanks Pootin.
Government tax the fuck out if us.
MUP and fuel tax.
Holy shit last time I looked it was 1.63 a litre for diesel wtf that’s mad how much its jumped
Fooookin pootin
It’s not even effecting the stations yet so they are taking the piss
How much of that goes to the government..
Looks like I’m not going to learn to drive this decade either
Have we had enough of capitalism yet, such a stupid way to run a society 😒
Perhaps the carbon tax should be scrapped and a cap put on excise duty. Like the thought of running a percentage on escalating prices is ridiculous.
In most percentage based tenders these days there’s a percentage up to a certain cut off. Why should the state be any different. Make the fucking decisions ye are put there to make bastards are paid enough
The government revenue would like to thank you for your 60 Euro contribution on top of your everyday taxes
I don’t understand how the prices work. I don’t drive and I’ve never asked. Does that mean €199, €19.9, €1.99? for example.
Canadian here. I lived in Ireland for 6 months, about 7 years ago. Every time the fuel went up I thought “well it’s not Europe prices”. Now I see the pain. But I can’t walk to work so here I go paying for it
We’re only paying 177.7 au¢ (119 euro cents) in Australia, wtf is your government doing? We’re on the other side of the world from anything and everything, you’re right next to the Middle East practically (in our perspective)… wtf?!
The fuel in your car is worth more than the car. This has never happened before. Should we order a cake?
That’s insane…I know gas’s has always been more expensive in Europe compared to the states so I always thought any innovation would come from Europe…we think we are paying an outrageous amount right now…where I live has is 3.79 (nc) and cali is up to 6-7 dollar a gallon…one gallon is about 3.5 liters.
I’m telling ya lads, LPG conversions are the way forward if you can’t go electric. Less than a grand to convert and then fuel is 50% cheaper from then on. I think my dad pays 40 to fill the tank and it lasts 400km before it switches to petrol
Strange things are afoot at the Circle K
I paid 2.04/L in Germany yesterday and it’s 2.08 at my closest station in Eindhoven.
I’ve test drives booked for 3 EVs next week.
Look, if we all stop the frivolity spending on stuff like avocados, Netflix and €4 flat whites with oat milk, these things won’t be a problem.
Just look at me. I’ve saved every red cent since I was €15. Between that and daddy’s fuel card he gets for working at the bank and the guaranteed 6 figure job right out of college, it’s really not that hard.
Back to the office sounds like a raw deal if youre driving now.
We are evolving from “get a college degree to afford buying a property in distant future” to “get a college degree to afford full tank and a Happy Meal”.
I did a cross country trip yesterday and most petrol stations had prices in the 1.95 range. Then saw one in sligo with 1.86…I nearly caused an accident slamming on the brakes to get in there.
Anyone just feeling the constant pit of dread in their stomach about this? I’m on a decent enough wage but not like amazing money. Enough to live comfortably. But this is gonna seriously dent my finances. It’s gonna go from 60 euro last week to 90 euro to this week just to fill my tank up. I didn’t want to move so far from my job and family, but the housing market pushed me and my partner out to a commuter town and we had to get cars to suit our commutes (mine is a small diesel car). Now it’s starting to feel like we’re being punished for not being rich enough to own a house in Dublin or afford an electric car. It’s getting to a point where I might have to actually quit my job because the cost of getting to and from work just isn’t worth it.
I get that for some people this is very painful, but one small silver lining is we’re taking this pain to support the Ukrainian people. The sanctions on Russia are gonna cost something to every one of us and personally I think it’s well worth it. Though maybe the government should look at a temporary reduction in tax on fuels as it’s not a very equitable way to pay the cost.
Leaked documents show that Tubridy gets a .28c cut of every euro worth of petrol sold in this nation. That is the reason for the high prices. He doesn’t do the late late show for free.
Can we stop this price raise bullshit somehow altogether?

The Greens will be delighted.
