It wasn’t banned, but Warsaw city hall used some legal tricks to claim it’s not cyclical gathering any more despite it obviously being one since more than a decade. The court overturned voivode decision to grant it the status of cyclical gathering.
Reason was that in 2020 it officially didn’t take place because of COVID (they still marched unofficially).
The cyclical gatherings take precedence over all other ones and some leftist group booked the same place where the march usually is from 8:00 to 22:00 for their gathering.
Overall it’s political bickering making opposition look like hypocrites as always, because they want to ban this gathering while at the same time they are invoking freedom of gatherings when banning pride parades is discussed.
Anyway you can be sure the march will still happen.
Wrong, clicback title, it isn’t banned. Our voivode decided that the march would be annual march that has more priority than other events, demonstrations etc. But the opposition wrote an appeal to court that it was illegal decision. If this independence march were to be repetitive (annual) it had to be continuosly organized every year for 3 years, which it has been not. The court only made that it’s lost its title as repetitive and it is on the same level of importance as other events. The independence march stays legal though
This is a bad decision that will most likely lead to sone violent actions.
IMHO they either are a legal organization and have the right to demonstrate like everyone else or ban the organization outright and stop the marches that way.
The reasoning is kind of shitty. They dont qualify for the status of a cyclical march, because they didnt officially march last year. They didnt officially march last year because of the pandemic and marches werent allowed. That may be correct according to the letter of the law, but not the spirit of the law.
Good! No nutjobs out in the streets. They turn this into a shitshow.
That’s basically just more fodder for PIS. Pretty fucking dumb decision if it is true.

The title is straight up false.
