1. This would be a great move. Somaliland has been an island of peaceful stability in a troubled region. They deserve recognition and the chance to chart their own course on the world stage.

   I probably need more characters to pad out this comment so it does not get deleted.

   Also, everyone and their grandmother has a military base in Djibouti, it’s nothing special

3. Some real wild card shit. Can’t say I love US military bases overseas, but the people of Somaliland have been ruling themselves and demanding international recognition for a long time now.

   If they can govern themselves peacefully in Somalia of all places, maybe they deserve some international recognition.
