PORTLAND (WGME) — A Portland non-profit is moving into a bigger space next year so it can better serve people in need.
For nearly five years, Maine Needs has given things like clothing, hygiene products and household items to families in need.
But the non-profit says as the demand for those items has grown in recent years, so has the need for a bigger space, to accommodate more items and more volunteers.
“Our first run, we moved into 2,000 feet, next year we outgrew that and moved into 4,000 feet, then pretty much since then, we’ve been stepping over one another and struggling to put requests back,” Maine Needs Founder Angela Stone said.
The nonprofit hopes to move into the new space on Congress Street, near the Portland Jetport, in either February or March.
