Vaičiūnas has spent the last few years as Policy Director at the European Solar Manufacturing Council (ESMC), where he played a key role in shaping policies to strengthen the renewable energy sector. ESMC Secretary General Johan Lindahl praised Vaičiūnas’ impactful leadership, describing his first term as Energy Minister as the “golden age” of Lithuania’s energy sector.

“We will deeply miss his contributions at ESMC, but we are confident that his leadership will drive significant progress in the energy transition across Lithuania and Europe,” said Lindahl.

Transition Preparations
ESMC is already managing the transition, with restructuring and responsibility handovers in progress. Despite the departure, the organization expressed its pride in Vaičiūnas’ appointment and optimism about the future impact on regional energy strategies.

Renewable Energy Leadership
Vaičiūnas’ return to the Energy Ministry is expected to revive the momentum from his previous tenure, during which he spearheaded transformative policies and initiatives that elevated Lithuania’s energy sector. His leadership is poised to reinforce Lithuania’s role as a key player in renewable energy and contribute to Europe’s green energy goals.

ESMC extended its best wishes to Vaičiūnas, stating, “We look forward to the positive changes he will continue to drive for Lithuania, Europe, and the renewable energy community.”
