Shell defends decision to buy discounted oil from Russia

  1. I’ve been wanting us to stop drilling for more oil in Norway, but now I think we should produce more to cut off Russia. Maybe we could give the extra money to green energy projects in Europe or something

  2. They said it right there, Shell is actually asking governments for sanctions. They just can’t resist those sweet profits otherwise.

“In its new statement, Shell said Saturday that the company welcomed “any direction or insights” from governments or policymakers.”

  3. When there’s talk of Weaterners only waking up when other white people are at war, Shell is one of prime examples.

I’ve been a career driver in various ways for about 9 years now, and I’ve stopped at Shell in this time once, for coffee.

  4. The USA is still buying mass amounts of oil from Russia roughly 670,000 barrels which seems silly to me because I thought th us has the capability to be energy self reliant.

This is also why the states didn’t want to remove Russia from swift because it would mean they would have no way to transact a purchase of oil from Russia’s energy sector.

  5. Just remember, this is nothing new. Lookup their activities in Nigeria, there’s always been a lot of blood in our oil. Just one more reason to transition out of it.

  6. It’s “heavily discounted” because nobody wants to touch the stuff. I’m sure that if Shell didn’t finally decide to purchase it, somebody else would have, but they did buy it and so they get the consequences.

If Russia was paying people to take the Oil (anybody else remember that from early in the Pandemic) then maybe, but probably not.
