REDDING, Calif. — Almost 15 years since it opened, Redding’s Stillwater Business Park is just weeks away from welcoming its second business.
Workers are putting the finishing touches on the Frito-Lay warehouse. Redding-based Burks Construction Management built the 10,000-square-foot facility with 3,000 square feet of office space. With large doors for 18-wheelers to bring in the chips, and smaller doors for delivery trucks to take them out, Frito-Lay wants to make sure the products you get locally are fresh.
“The Frito-Lay team is changing from going to 3-6 weeks worth of chips back stocked to 24 to 48-hours worth of chip back-stock,” Ryan Burks, Owner and President of Burks Construction Management said. “So they are only going to keep chips for up to two days in their facility.”
That’s certainly been rumored. Burks said they should be ready to hand over the building to Frito-Lay next week, and the warehouse should be full of chips ready for delivery in January.
The Frito-Lay warehouse is right across the street from the first company in Stillwater Business Park, Pace Engineering. Burks thinks this is just the beginning of lots filling up all 16 lots.
“We are hearing rumors that Cal Fire is going to build their headquarters here at the end of the road,” Burks said. “We will have a great new business park out here in Redding, with a lot of good neighbors and maybe Amazon as well.”
