CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – Cleveland firefighters will be giving away free electric space heaters for residents living near the Lonnie Burten Recreation Center Friday.
This will happen from Noon-3 p.m. at the rec center located at 2511 E. 46th St.
“We are discouraging residents from using kitchen ovens as a supplemental heat source,” said Cleveland Fire Chief Anthony Luke. “Using an oven to heat the house is a fire hazard. A gas stove is also a source for Carbon Monoxide, which can be fatal.”
The giveaway is possible thanks to a new partnership between Cleveland Fire and Molina Healthcare.
The event will also provide free shoes and winter accessories, information on infant mortality prevention, respiratory issues and other family resources.
