Did the Biden administration discuss returning nuclear weapons to Ukraine? • FRANCE 24 English

Rumours about the US returning nuclear weapons to Ukraine have been circulating since November 21, when The New York Times published an article citing several unnamed US officials who “suggested that Mr. Biden could return nuclear weapons to Ukraine that were taken from it after the fall of the Soviet Union”. At this stage, these are baseless claims since Washington does not even have these nuclear weapons to begin with. We explain in this edition of Truth or Fake.

  4. The nukes were not Ukraine's, it was part of USSR arsenal and was returned to its lawful owner and successor state which was Russia, please add more research 😂😂😂😂😂😂

  13. My analysis of the current situation is much less favorable than that of some others. Here is what i feel obliged to say in respect to the truths of the matter. It ought to have become entirely clear to all of Ukraine's provident allies that despite their best efforts to train and equip Ukraine military forces that those Ukraine military forces definitely cannot, and will not, prevail against Russia. That Ukraine is gradually, but steadily and definitely, losing the war against Russia. That leaves only one military question and that is whether Ukraine's allies are going to put combat forces into boots on the ground roles, engaging directly against Russian military forces. That would appear to be the only option that would assure the defeat of Russian forces, and their full withdrawal from Crimea, and the rest of Ukraine territory as per the 2014, pre Crimean invasion, borders. Short of boots on the ground, there are absolutely no indications that would support any credible arguments for Ukraine's ultimate success to restoring that same geopolitical condition. The various risks that any such boots on the ground strategy would entail, as well as the costs, are relatively well know and need not be repeated. Whether other pressures can be exerted on Russia and its allies to motivate a negotiated resolution of the war is increasingly doubtful. Russia having steadily hardened its position and increased its resilience by a variety of effective means. Russia continues to do so, to a remarkable extent that many failed to predict and that some still choose to deny. A reasonably acceptable negotiated solution remains the creation of three autonomous regions of Crimea, Donbas, and Ukraine. That and removing the threat of those three regions being admitted into NATO, while retaining their right to self defense. A necessary concession to Russian national security concerns. Short of implementing a “boots on the ground” scenario, with all of the potential risks that such a development would most probably imply, Ukraine must be brought to the negotiating table with Russia, and Russia must necessarily be convinced to drop its “total capitulation” attitude in order to facilitate those negotiations. Given that it might require constraints on aid to Ukraine to open Ukraine's eyes to realizing its actual current situation and the grim prognosis as to the steady worsening of its condition should the war continue and most probably escalate, as the Russians so clearly intend to effect in order to achieve their goals.
