Does anybody recognize this rock? It’s supposed to be in the Berner Oberland region, with Interlaken as closest reference point.

Unfortunately I cannot narrow it down further, but for context:
My grandfather, which grew up in Niederried bei Interlaken in the 1930ies, bequeathed us this painting of a glacial erratic („Findling“). My dad knows that the rock depicted ought to be around where his father originated – so he asked me whether I could use my „internet skills“ to locate it it further.
Until now my research hasn’t been very fruitful, so maybe I strike luck with one of you guys.
Thanks for any clues!
I can not help for the rock.
But I did saw that tree somewhere, I swear !
it reminds me of a place near Wengen above Lauterbrunnen. We did a hike from Wengen to Männlichen, where the first part is inside a forest. could be this, although it’s hard to evaluate the size of the rock in the picture and compare it to the one in my memory.
The forest above grindelwald is full of randomly placed mossy rocks like this
I live in the region, actually even Niederried myself. And I am so sure that I have actually seen this rock before. Although I am not sure if my mind is just tricking me or if I have seen it somewhere. But as others mentioned, there are millions and millions of rocks that look somewhat similar around here. So narrowing it down to exactly this one might be impossible. But you never know 🙂
Unfortunately I can’t help you with the exact location. But if you need any other information or help hit me up!
You can try r/whereisthis
As others have mentioned, many of these moss-covered rocks can be found in the woods above Niederried and the same is true for similar areas in the vicinity of the Brienzersee and the Thunersee.
Ten years ago, forest workers destroyed some of these rocks above Niederried with explosives to prevent them from endangering people downhill (video [here](https://www.jungfrauzeitung.ch/artikel/114751/)).
I think it is located at the Ballenberg outdoor museum near Brienz. Looks familiar.
There is a similar looking one in the hike up Tschente from Adelboden, but the valley looks off for it to be that one.
So, quick addition to my previous comment. I showed your post to my family and they immediately recognized the rock as one of the many at „Ruine Schadburg“. I can‘t confirm this 100% as there are no pictures. But if you want me to, I can go there later this week to see if it‘s actually there. Let me know 😉
Reminds me of the place where Fritz in 7 vs Wild had his camp
Love this sub lol
